Whenever the theme from “The Breakfast Club” plays, no one will forget about John Hughes. But those who worked closest with him ensured that he receive a proper send-off. Members of the 1980s group the Brat Pack paid homage to late writer/director Hughes in a tribute at the 82nd annual Academy Awards. Hughes, who died at the age of 59 in mid-2009, wrote and directed some of the best-loved films of the ’80s and ’90s. - (AHN)

The 82nd annual Academy Awards started with some surprises mixed in with some moments that most odds makers have been counting on. The ceremony opened with the 10 Best Actor and Best Actress nominees taking center stage, segueing into an elaborate musical number with none other than Broadway sensation and “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris. Harris’s high-kicking, sparkle tuxedo number, titled “No One Wants to Do It Alone” warmed the crowd up for the hosing team of the evening, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, the first duo to host the show in many years. - (AHN)
